When David Horobin lost his home to a wildfire just days after buying it, he decided to take action. His experience inspired him to develop safer building methods, including Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF). These are now common in fire-resistant buildings. But he realized windows and doors were still vulnerable to fire penetration. To solve this problem, he began his journey toward Inferno Roller Shutters to provide durable, fire-rated protection for homeowners in fire-prone areas.
Back in 2022, Horobin discovered that rolling shutters could play a role in the design of his wildfire defense product. Alongside the president of Sun and Security, Glenn Roehl, they launched Inferno Roller Shutters, Inc., designing a system that went beyond ASTM fire safety standards. Fire departments have since started recommending them as a solid defense for homes in fire-prone areas.
Inferno Roller Shutters was born from a growing need to address California’s wildfire problem and worsening insurance challenges.
